This effortless hosting trick is one that quietly elevates the table, Scandi-style.
There are few things more satisfying than warm sourdough bread and a generous spoonful of whipped butter. Light, airy, and impossibly spreadable, this simple recipe transforms everyday butter into something that feels a little more special.
Serve alongside freshly baked bread, roasted vegetables, or grilled fish. It’s a small touch that makes any breakfast, brunch, or dinner feel more inviting.
Ingredients
200g unsalted butter, softened
4 tbsp buttermilk
½ tsp sea salt
Method
Place the softened butter into a large mixing bowl.
Using an electric whisk, beat the butter until it becomes pale, light, and fluffy.
Add the buttermilk and sea salt.
Continue whisking for several minutes until the mixture becomes glossy and airy, with a texture similar to softly whipped cream.
Spoon into a serving bowl and create soft swirls with the back of a spoon.
Serve immediately with fresh bread, or keep at room temperature until ready to serve.
Notes
Make sure the butter is fully softened before you begin for the lightest texture.
Finish with flaky sea salt just before serving for contrast and crunch.
